Thomas Silvera is the co-founder of the Elijah-Alavi Foundation and a dedicated advocate and educator in the field of food allergies. After the tragic loss of his son, Elijah, to an anaphylactic reaction, Elijah's parents Thomas Silvera and Ondina Hawthorne established the foundation to honor Elijah's memory and prevent similar tragedies. The foundation focuses on educating parents, caregivers, and educators about the dangers of food allergies and the importance of proper training in handling allergic reactions. They have also worked on legislation to protect children with food allergies and asthma, including Elijah's Law and more.
